I wonder if you could have avoid surgery by following a more paleo diet and supplementing with vitamin K2, vitamin D, and magnesium. Nonetheless, best of luck.
Do what the doctors say and you will be alright. Your cohort survival rate is not all that much effected by a bypass operation. You have to die sometime of course, but a heart attack of some sort is a better way to go than most. That should be years and years from now. You will be back to work soon enough. I doubt if this will make you more mellow.
I had my heart incident when I was about your age ten years ago. Having a bad heart these days while in your sixties is not much of an inconvenience. I’m not as athletic as I once was, but otherwise there has been little change. After the crisis period you just have to take a lot of pills. That’s the real bummer.
Have you shopped around for the best deal on this?
My brother is a heart surgeon (Really!), and he’s running a special next month.
Anyway, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
(And I was just kidding about the special, but I’d highly recommend him if you want one of the best.)
Hope you have a speedy recovery:) Good thing to discover the blockage early. Hope all goes well and that you feel right as rain soon. (please keep in mind you need to come through this in one piece or I’ll be reduced to reading the rubbish on facebook for entertainment), Sabra
Some people keep ridiculing physicians for their studipity or blunders on this blog.
At end, MDs did their jobs. Proffesionally, they are still the smartest people. We all depend on them for our health which we will not trust it to any one else except them.
Thanks, Dr. Harpending. Could you perhaps honor us with a post while GC is away, perhaps in commemoration of your being named an “extremist” by the SPLC? Congratulations, by the way – as they say, the enemies you make are a tribute to you…
CABG is invasive surgery, and tolerating it would not be trivial for a twenty-year-old, let alone the people who actually have coronary artery disease. I’m glad that your recovery has gone well so far, and warm wishes that everything continues so well!
You had to be the first one in the thread to use that reprehensibly obscure acronym CABG, didn’t you? Forgiven, only on account of our shared concern for Dr Cochran’s recovery.
I add my best wishes to both G and H belatedly albeit with all possible warmth. Give your doctors hell, your nurses chocolate, your loved ones hugs, your ancestors thanks…and strive to be an outlier in this as in so many other things.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Good luck and speedy recovery!
Wishing you all the very best, and looking forward to your healthy return.
May everything go well for you.
wish you a speedy recovery
Best wishes
Best wishes, Greg.
Same from me.
Good luck.
Best wish. You need to live long to find the truth.
Good luck, we’ll be thinking of you.
Get better soon. We’ll be here when you get back.

Thanks for the update, Dr. H. Appreciate it. Funny how you can really care about someone you don’t actually know.
